Privacy Policy

Last updated

This policy explains what personal information IndustryTalksTech ("we", "us") collects when you use industrytalkstech.com, why we use it, who helps us, how long we keep it and what your rights are. We collect only what we need to run our courses and shop, and we never sell your information.

1. Who we are

IndustryTalksTech runs this website and is responsible for your personal information. You can reach us at admin@industrytalkstech.com for any privacy question or request.

2. What we collect

  • Your account: your name, email address and password (stored only in scrambled form, so nobody can read it). If you choose, also your job title, company, country and profile picture.
  • Sign-in with Google: if you use "Continue with Google", Google tells us your name, email address and an account ID. We never see your Google password.
  • Purchases: what you bought, the price, the discount, the date and your billing details (name, address, country) for receipts and invoices. Card details go straight to Stripe; we only see the card type and its last four digits.
  • Learning: the lessons you watched and completed, your progress, the time you spent learning, your private notes and the certificates you earned.
  • Messages and newsletter: what you write to us in the contact form (name, email, message), and your email address if you sign up for the newsletter.
  • Security information: your IP address and basic browser details, to limit repeated sign-in attempts and form submissions and to tell people from bots. If a page breaks, we record which page and what went wrong, without your personal details.
  • Cookies and visit information: only with your permission, we measure how the website is used and which adverts work, and we remember which page or advert brought you here and save it with your order. See our Cookie Policy.

3. Why we use it

  • To provide what you asked for (our agreement with you): your account, purchases, course access, downloads, certificates, receipts, invoices and refunds.
  • Because the law requires it: keeping records of sales for tax and accounting.
  • For our legitimate interests: keeping the website and your account secure, preventing fraud and misuse, answering your messages, and improving our courses and website.
  • With your consent: analytics and marketing cookies, telling advertising partners about a purchase (below), and the newsletter. You can withdraw your consent at any time.

4. Who helps us

We use trusted companies to run the website. They may only use your information to provide their service to us:

  • Hostinger runs the website on servers in the United Kingdom.
  • Supabase stores the database and files (such as pictures and PDFs).
  • Backblaze stores our nightly backups, locked with encryption, in the European Union.
  • Stripe processes payments and refunds and checks for fraud.
  • Vimeo plays the course videos. The player is set to "do not track".
  • Resend sends our emails, such as confirmations, receipts and replies.
  • Cloudflare provides the bot check on sign-up and forms.
  • Google provides "Continue with Google" and, only with your consent, Google Analytics and Google Ads.
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and LinkedIn, only with your marketing consent, measure our adverts. When you accept marketing cookies and buy something, we tell Meta about the purchase (its value and a scrambled version of your email address), so it can measure our adverts. We never send names or card details.

We may also share information when the law requires it, or to protect our rights and our customers, for example against fraud.

5. Information sent outside the UK and the EU

Some of these companies, such as Stripe, Google, Meta, Vimeo and Resend, are based in or use servers in the United States. When information leaves the UK or the EU, they protect it with the safeguards the law requires, such as the UK and EU standard contractual clauses or the EU–US and UK–US data frameworks.

6. How long we keep it

  • Your account and learning information: for as long as you have an account. When you ask us to delete it, we delete or anonymise it, except what we must keep by law.
  • Orders, invoices and refunds: for as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually 6 to 7 years.
  • Contact messages: for as long as needed to answer you, and then up to 2 years in case you write again.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Security and error records: limits on repeated attempts last only minutes; error records are deleted after 90 days.
  • Backups: nightly copies are kept for 30 days; copies made before a website update are kept for up to a year.

7. How we protect it

  • The whole website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS).
  • Passwords are stored only in scrambled form. Our team signs in with a two-step code.
  • Card details never reach our servers. Paid PDFs are stored privately and can only be downloaded by their owner, through links that expire after a few minutes.
  • Backups are locked with encryption, and each team member sees only what their role needs.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

  • see the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
  • correct it (most of it you can change yourself in Profile & Settings);
  • have it deleted (choose Delete account in Profile & Settings, or write to us);
  • object to or limit how we use it, and take it to another service;
  • withdraw your consent at any time: change your cookie choice with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page, and unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link in our emails or by writing to us.

To use any of these rights, write to admin@industrytalkstech.com. We will answer within one month. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority, for example the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK or the authority in your EU country.

9. Children

Our courses are made for professionals. They are not meant for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information about them.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services or the law change. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters for you, we will tell you by email or on the website.
